Paris Courts Are Ablaze with Gold, Silver & Bronze

The Olympics are a great way to see high-level court sports that you may not get to see every day on television. Below are links so you can keep updated on the action and when your favorite athletes will be on the court competing. There are five sports played on courts that are part of the Paris 2024 Olympics. They are:

Badminton (Men & Women, Singles, Doubles & Mixed Doubles)

Basketball (Men & Women)

3×3 Basketball (Men & Women)

Tennis (Men & Women, Singles, Doubles & Mixed Doubles)

Volleyball (Men & Women)

Badminton is being played at Porte de la Chapelle Arena and there are 172 athletes competing. Matches will be played July 27 – August 3. The favorites this year include China’s Shi Yugi and Denmark’s Viktor Axelson in men’s singles, and Se Young An from South Korea and Yu Fei Chen from China on the women’s singles side. Basketball is being played at Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille for the initial rounds, with the later rounds played at Accor Arena in Paris. Games will be played July 27 – August 11. The men’s favorites include the USA, with a powerhouse team of NBA stars, and Canada. The top women’s teams are believed to be the USA and France. 3×3 Basketball is being played at the iconic Place de la Concorde within the city of Paris. Games will be played there July 30 – August 5. Topping the rankings for favorite status are USA and Canada for the women and Serbia and USA for the men. The complete schedule of matches and updated 3×3 basketball results can be found here

Tennis is being played on the clay courts at Roland Garros, the home of the French Open. The competition is expected to be especially exciting just a few weeks following the Wimbledon Championships. Matches will take place July 27 – August 4. Carlos Alcarez of Spain, the recent Wimbledon champ, is expected take home his first Olympic medal. Veteran Novak Djokovic of Serbia is also a medal contender. Alcarez will team up with Rafael Nadal in doubles, which could prove a formidable pair. Volleyball is being played at South Paris Arena. Matches will take place July 27 – August 11.  Men’s teams expected to medal include Poland and host nation France. Women’s team favorites are Italy and Turkey. Team USA is in contention, however, with both the men’s and women’s teams in 4th place in many experts’ rankings.
