Why Choose SnapSports Tile

Dec 15, 2023 | Backyard Courts, SnapSports

All Athletic Tile Is Not the Same

Grand Slam Courts became an official dealer for SnapSports athletic surfacing because we wanted to offer our clients the best. With more than 15 years in the industry, we knew how to evaluate athletic tile surfacing. We saw that SnapSports has continued to improve its products. We saw the innovation that they had produced in the industry, and we knew that the high-tech advancements SnapSports invented would create a surface that would be great for clients.

Tile surfacing may not be best for every application or every family. SnapSports tile has the advantage of being both durable and weather-resistant. The colors do not fade like standard acrylic court surfacing and the surface can be expected to last far longer without requiring resurfacing. There is a natural drainage through the tile surface. And because the surface is softer, injuries can be mitigated somewhat. Some competitive players, especially in racquet sports, may prefer the acrylic surfacing. If so, Grand Slam Courts can accommodate that desire.

The question remains: How do you choose among the athletic tile surfaces out there? For an investment that should last for years—if not into the next generation—the decision should not come down to price alone.

There are four factors that you should consider:

  1. Thickness of the tile. Compare the SnapSports tile with lesser quality products, and you will immediately notice that it is thicker. The SnapSports Revolution, Duracourt and Picklegrip surfaces play softer and offer greater shock absorption qualities.
  2. Interlocking system. SnapSports uses a square lock technology to hold the tiles together. The square locks are less likely to break because they allow for more tolerance and flex. Individual tiles can “slide” slightly, while the overall surface remains intact.
  3. Integrated Impact Absorption. SnapSports tiles use “Shocktowers” to give the tile additional cushioning. These rubber cylinders are fully integrated into the bottom of each tile. For an indoor court, the alternative is an additional rubber underlayment. But, outdoors an underlayment would prevent the run-off of water on the court. The shocktowers make the need for an additional underlayment unnecessary. Installation is quicker and less expensive.
  4. The SnapSports Guarantee. SnapSports comes with a 16 year warranty—longer than any other athletic tile manufactured.
